Boswellia, also known as Indian frankincense or olibanum, is an herbal extract from the Boswellia serrata tree native to India, North Africa, and the Middle East. The resin from the boswellia tree contains compounds called boswellic acids, which are believed to be responsible for the herb’s anti inflammatory properties. It helps to reduce inflammation by inhibiting certain enzymes. Boswellia has been traditionally used to treat conditions like arthritis, asthma, bronchitis and inflammatory bowel diseases.
